Dazzling

A week of complete showmanship. I can feel the heat and know I am really close to the fire and there is some sort of tide building behind the madness of the economy's mood. I can smell the turkey prepping for his day on the stage and think it is a true juxtaposition with my career. I did have a self realization that maybe I am in the right place and focus is needed on maturity as some have suggested. Less theory and more reality I met with the owner of Dazzle with a partner at work and had a wonderful two hour conversation on their establishment and the success of its current location. I must visit this brunch and evening Jazz experience soon. It is on the to do list before the end of 2008. Reminded me of the tokyo lounges where the locals congregate to escape their tiny condensed homes and surround themselves with like minded people, music and the clanging of dishes bottles and chatter of the day.

This week sucked. I look forward to better times. I blame greed. I hate money.I love design. My kids make the world worth looking for stars. I will be looking for the light.

all black

so my iphone is blinking or is this a vortex of time i was in while sitting in DWR pondering what i have become. things are simply cool, easy and nerve racking at the same time. Josh the id guy and sara the id girl and grady the odd guy all went on a shopping bender to find the right dope stuff to fit out my next home away from home  S     P    I    R    E.  Pulled pork at steuben's is a must if your hungry for retro grub and hot lipstick smiles.

Pcrawls today

I have never been so happy to see the little guy crawl over to his sisters and pull up on the table to get in the middle of what was going on. He's got a tough mellon as well after tagging the floor once. dudes tough.

Working on the MOON

I snapped a shot of this in the Dubai airport after a week on really feeling like I was visiting prototype colonies for inhabiting the moon. Crazy how the western world is trading capital for driving their fat behinds to 7-11 for cold popsicles and convenient personal space. I think in laymen terms this should say," No problem cowboy. We love your money so keep driving."

SAY NO

Sleepless nights, countless hours, sketches, modeling and debates landed the design team on the idea of a sculpture that communicates a brand.

Classic New Denver

The Curtis hotel design has the just right dash of paprika and lime juice feel that makes me warm and fuzzy.

Denver Spire Sketches

Walking the site made me think of the early sketches and thinking for the public amenity spaces.

Denver Spire Design Walk

Did a walk with The client on Friday of a project I have worked on for the last two years and it was exciting to see it being built. Construction observation is always a telling story of how the design drawings and ideas are coming to life. I want a CONDO here looking West. (www.spiredenver.com)

There is nothing like racing to take your mind off the world around you. The day started as a typical saturday morning with the girls up and out of bed before the sun rose. Fall in Colorado, you just never know what your going to get weather wise. Today 75 degree Blue Sky fever. Just Awesome. At  Peanut and honey sandwich, cup of home brew coffee, banana and a power bar and I was off for a 9:35am start. I hate early starts. The 40 year old motor takes some time to get going. Cat 4 mens was about 45 plus dudes all amped to spin for 45 minutes. I was able to jump out to an ok start about 10th. Felt strong until the first sand jump off where I dropped a chain and about 20 spots. Brutal. Still jumped on a wheel put my head down and cranked out 45 minutes to a 12 place finish. Practicing the JPowers clinic thoughts from the thursday before that worked. Still want to win. Went back to the car, grabbed some water an apple and some rest to do it all again at 1 pm for the 35+4's. I was ready and had some legs for this ride. Great start (5th) and off I chugged. It was awesome to have The BlueSkyVelo club yelling at me and I think my buddy Zac was throwing down a shout as well. Rolled around on lap three to my little e&m yelling at me and I was motivated to push. rode in 3rd until dropping a chain again on the boat dock went to 5th then passed them back in the sand only to do a head dive into the barriers on the last lap and sprint. THAT SUCKS. Twisted the ankle and broke a finger in the crash but didn't notice until I finished in 8th. Best part of the day was a picnic with the family by the car after the race. Kids make it all go round in a fun way.
